How to Join

Organizations with the following classification are encouraged to join the SDG Alliance Portugal:

  • Entities that belong to the United Nations system in Portugal;
  • Organizations representative of companies, including SMEs;
  • Business Organizations dedicated to the economic development and cooperation;
  • Professional Organizations (like Orders and Chambers);
  • Companies with more than 500 employees or invoicing more than 30 million euros (the participation at the initiative is analyzed case by case);
  • Confederations and Trade Union Unions that are members of the Economic and Social Council;
  • Environmental Defense Organizations;
  • Consumer Defense Organizations;
  • Non-Governmental Organizations for Development;
  • Public Entities with very relevant goals for any SDG and National or International Normalization;
  • Humanitatian Support Organizations;
  • Universities and other academy, research, development and innovation organizations;
  • Third Sector representative Entities – Social Economy;
  • Foundations;
  • Associative Entities related to Ethics, Social Responsibility or Sustainability;
  • Entities with recognized activity in the area of Sustainability, in the scope of the Normalization and the Portuguese System of Quality;
  • Participants of the Global Compact Network Portugal.

To formalize the participation, each entity must agree with the SDG Alliance Portugal Terms of Reference and state the commitment with the Sustainable Development Goals through the signature of the Commitment por parte da gestão de topo da organização com o carimbo oficial da entidade.

The Global Compact Network Portugal (GCNP) is the Portuguese network of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), which brings together participants of the initiative based or operating in Portugal.
